I was introduced to a new antenna design that even the internet has little to no information about it. It was indicated to me that this design is currently being patented by a few major corporations to be sold commercially. A good friend and Elmer WD9GYK has built one of these for 2 meter vhf and performs suprisingly well. This particular design is being used by the US military, FBI, and Secret Service as a stealth antenna and to look at it, it barely resembles an antenna It's known as the "Koch Snowflake antenna". My friend Richard took a piece of plywood approx. 8 inches by 8 inches, drove nails into it in the pattern of the snowflake and wound copper wire one revolution around these nails, laid it on his workbench leaning it against a coffee cup, hooked it up to a mobile vhf radio and tested it with ten watts. Meanwhile approx 18 to 20 miles away another friend happened to be listening to vhf simplex when he heard Richard testing. We were all amazed at the performance of this little antenna. I just recieved plans via e-mail from Richard and plan to put one or two together. I'll pop back in here on your forum and give an update and always remember, When it comes to antennas, don't buy 'em , build 'em! '73 kc9gld This is the only place I've been able to find anything about this antenna, that is until one of you computer wizards can find something: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Koch_snowflake

This sounds like an excellent antenna, please keep us posted about how you get on with it. I wonder how this type on antenna will perform on the HF bands?
