Hi, What are your opinions on contesting? Love it,hate it? Personaly i hate contesting, in my opinion it brings out the worst in radio operators. This weekend was a prime example, People were filling the bands with cries of cq contest cq contest all day and night. Calling over the top of each other, using ridiculous amounts of power and showing scant regard for any other users. Is this what amatuer radio is really about?

Your right on this one,I put the hf radio on,...it was solid.NO room for a qso what so ever.In the end I just turned the radio off,I just don't know why they cant have or sort out a band just for contesting and let the operator that is not interested in contests have a break and save some coins on having to run to the shop for an over dose of pain killers for your Head..

Except field day I generally have the same opinion. though a couple of weekends ago there was some sort of DX contest and it wasn't that bad Dave actually made a lot of contacts, it wasn't "rude" massive power full legal limits..." Generally when it is a contest weekend I don't even turn it on, I hate the ignorance rudeness and nasty overly competitiveness
