Is anybody else getting fed up with the state of the HF bands so far this year? I know it is seasonally variable, but there should be decent band openings on some days at least. Looking back at my logbook for this time last year anf things were far better.

Yes things have been dead! It is starting to get better with gray line propagation during the day it is quiet ( noise wise ...which is good) but I don't hear anyone really)
Both Dave and I did make contact with an IOTA station yesterday it was dusk here.

Congratulations to both You and Dave on your IOTA contact the day before yesterday Renae It has been rather quiet on the bands hasn't it? Do we think this is something to do with the effects of global warming or do you think something else is to blame? Has this happened in the past in various parts of Sunspot Activity Cycles? mmmmh, I wonder.

I think it is just band conditions, sun spot and solar flare cycles. there is always ebb and flow it will only get better.
I know we are at very low sun spot cycle, probably bottoming out.

Yes I have been told that we are bottoming out of the sun spot cycle before by people who have the know about these things They feel it won't be too long before conditions start to get better That will be all the better for us eh?

Sun spot cycle is low..there were some days with ZERO sun spots. I don't know how long it stays low before they become high. I think ( I don't remember for sure ) the sun spot cycle is 11 years ? ? ?
