As we all know Ofcom have recently tinkered with the BR68. Various changes to this document as we know it, have taken place one of which is the changes to the requirement to log QSO's. As far as I understand it, from the 1st October this year their is no longer a need to log radio contacts. Now as far as I'm concerned, I for one will continue to log all contacts, my reasons are as follows: - Nice to look back on previous contacts made
- Shack discipline maintained
- Ever visited by Ofcom inspectors I have proof of evidence
I wonder what others are doing and their reasons for it?

My own thoughts and opinions are similar to your own Ian. I shall certainly carry on making enteries in my log book. Definately good to look back on contacts made, I always make a note of anything interesting discussed or mentioned in a QSO so if I need to go back and refer to it I can. Again shack discipline is maintained and definately have proof of when I was on the air. It makes sense to me because usually we as amatuer's are supposed to try and sort problems out with neighbours ourselves by asking them to keep a log to see if it is us that is giving them any interference. In future if an amateur or a neighbour has a problem then they will have to start the whole process off again which can be avoided and Ofcom will have the information they need to determine whether it is us that is causing the interference.

Hi Zo
Could'nt agree more with your comments. Certainly a number of locals have decided to only log HF contacts, leaving all else alone, but everyone to their own. I will continue to log all, nice to have a reference to reflect back too in the future.

I will certainly maintain a logbook as has been said it is good to be able look back at qso,s. As Ian has pointed out shack discipline is maintained, I think this is the kind of thing that differenciates a user from an operator.

When we get pur antenna problems sorted out and I'm back on air I'll certainly be keeping my log going both for my own interest and as a means of checking whether I am to blame for causing interference! We had a visit once and were completely exonerated I'm pleased to say. Mind you, that neighbout has never forgiven us and gives us hassle whenever she can.

It's funny isn't it.... Neighbour see's antenna and presumes your the reason for all interference, wonder if any of them actually give thought to if it started prior to antenna's going up mmmmh.
