Hi folks
This is G0VRT, Maureen, originally from Edinburgh but now in South East Northumberland. currently off the air as our HF and 2m beams were damaged in previous bad weather and we've not had a chance to fix them yet. To add to the misery our Trapped dipole took damamge last night in the strong winds and we've had to take it down as well! Been an amateur since 1992. Other interests include the Air Cadets and Classic Vehicles.
Don't know when we'll get back on air as the weather and hubby's work will probably stop us getting anything done for some time! Ah well, there's always Echolink and forums like this to help keep in touch.

Hello Maureen! ;D Sorry to hear about your antenna woes! wind can be the enemy when it comes to antennas! Hope you are able to get antennas back up sometime in the near future!

Hi Maureen
Welcome to the forum. Strong winds have been a problem for several days on the Fylde coast, but so far the Cobwebb and Tri-Band co-linear have survived.......... hope you get back on the air soonest.

Hi Maureen And a Big Warm Welcome to the forum It's so nice to see you here and I hope you enjoy it I am so sorry to hear about your antenna's and the wind. We have had similar problems here. The Cobwebb broke in the winds a few days ago and now needs to be taken down...fixed and put up again. Thankfully the 2mtr tri-band and the 2mtr vertical's are both fine and we have a longwire that we can fall back on for some of the bands. However we have an electrical problem which developed this morning so I hope that isn't going to add to problems. I think this is due to the rain leaking in. Anyways as you said the one consolidation at the moment is being able to use the internet and forums such as this one to keep in touch with other Amateur's and of course Echolink. I hope you aren't off the air for too long. Best Regards and Once Again Welcome M3LHI ~ Zo

Thanks to all for the welcome!
It will be some time before we can get things sorted out I'm afraid. Actually, the Trapped dipole was not damaged in itself - one of the supporting ropes snapped and we had to take the dipole down as it went across the roof and we were afraid it would suffer more damage. We only have a small garden so there is no other way to put it up. I do have an MP1 but would have to put it up indoors and I'm not sure how well it would work. We do have a magnetic loop up in the loft which works on 20m but ut is so long since I've used it and it's so fiddly to tune I'm reluctant to use it - lazy, I know!! I take it M3LHF is Zo's OM but I can't remember your name - 'Senior Moment'!! I am also ex WRAF and when July comes I shall be RAFVR(T) Ret'd!!
