Hi and thanks for the forum Zo and Den.
My name is Roger and I retired two years ago from the post of Assistant Headteacher at a comprehensive in Bradford for Catholic boys.
I was first licensed in 1981 as G6BGO and after passing the morse test became G4OWG in 1982. My interest in amateur radio began in the 1960's, I actually passed the written C&G RAE in 1966 but never got round to obtaining a licence.
I taught the RAE at Bradford College for a couple of years in the '80s.
My present 'job' seems to be as a SOTA chaser and activator - presently a triple Shack Sloth and approaching a half Mountain Goat.
Listen for me in the next few weeks trying to collect winter bonus.
Although my part time proper job as a chief invigilator for exams at Leeds University will lose me two weeks of activation time.
Equipment in shack is Yaesu FT-100, Kenwood TS-530SP (superb receiver section) feeding Norcal Doublet via a balun and atu for 160 to 10 metres and a dipole for 6m.
VHF/UHF I have a dual band single feed beam - 5 ele on 2m and 7ele on 70cms.
For FM I use my FT-817 to a 2/6/70cm colinear.
Also have an AKD 4m rig.
For portable (SOTA) use I have the '817 and a VX5 handheld - norcal doublet for HF - SOTA beam or Sandpiper Delta Quad for SSB/FM : Folding Slim Jim (2m) or folding dual band antenna (2m/70cms) for FM.
I sometimes use a PYE PFX (converted pmr) for 4m.
I have a good collection of summit routes if anyone wants advice.
