The Practical Wireless 2m QRP contest was last weekend, I managed 54 contacts on 2m SSB not as high as some of the welsh stations that where into their hundred and seventies!!! Still it was a lovely day, more info at mbars.internationalham.com

i was also very surprised not to hear any foundation licensee's on air you would have thought that being a 3watt contest it would have put them on equal terms with the "big stations" i only worked one intermediate but did work two g2 stations

What antenna did you run Martin? What was your furthest contact (mles)? All dumb questions but I tried to work your link to no avail. Do these things matter in a contest-or is it just the amounts?

The furthest contact was four hundred and thirty Four miles, I am awaiting the log so I can put it on the website. anyone else had problems getting to mbars.internationalham.com As far as antennas went we where going to use a 12 element ZL Special but we had problems getting it together so instead we used a SOTA Beam believe it or not. the plan next year is to use two sota beams for receive and two ZLs for transmit

The furthest contact was four hundred and thirty Four miles, 430 miles is pretty good for 2meters

We'd have been happier with more contacts but the distance is very impressive, seeming we where only running 3watts tops.

Especially running 3 watts, but sometimes you would be surprised what contacts you get. Dave got Arizona ( which is like 2000 miles away) once running something ridiculous like 10 watts or something, if I had not heard it I would not have believe it.

Good stuff Martin. I am not a ham as you know-I monitor. So I look at youtube to check out hams working stations far away-very cool to see. You should put up some shots that would be fun to see! Same with Dave, Renae. I think we could use a good DX video here.
