Well after much thinking I decided against a "Shack in a box" thinking that there are two many things that I could see going wrong so instead I have bought a Kenwood TS-480SAT the reason for the SAT was the 100w capability as I don't need 200w in the near future, and its got a built in ATU which for the amount of money I am not spending was essential. I spent many hours researching this rig, and I know its not going to be everyone's cup of tea but once I've had a trial of it at home I will give a report back. Now all I need to do is get a decent antenna up for HF :S so out comes the tripod methinks as a wall mount is out of the question atm

Hi Martin, I had a 480SAT for quite sometime, and i can honestly say it was one of the best radios i have owned. The filtering is superb, and the recieved audio is excellent. You should have many hours DX'ing with it, enjoy ;D.
