Quite honestly I don't realistically think Obama stands a chance which is a shame, he has too much stacked against him. He would be the First Black President (Not a Bad Thing), The First Muslim President (again not a bad thing) but I think the combination of the two is what is going to cause him the problem. I would prefer him in to the Fundamentalist McCain there again I'd like to see faith and State split everywhere anyway.
Obama is being targeted with a nasty racist campaign. I feel sorry for the normal joe on the street who is being tarred with the same brush as McCain's election team. I accept that 50% of McCains voters are probably not Racist or anti muslim, but it does make the USA look rather bad on the world stage as a whole methinks

He would be the First Black President (Not a Bad Thing), The First Muslim President (again not a bad thing) he is Bi-Racial His mother is/was Caucasian, his father is/was black He is not Muslim he is Christian ( a little while ago there was a controversy over his Minister ( in a sermon he made anti-American remarks) Personally he doesn't do squat for Illinois I see how he votes or lack of vote in the Senate. (he is too busy campaigning to care about Illinois) Unfortunately he will win the State of Illinois due to the population of Chicago, where he was heavily into politics in Chicago and has a lot of political ties, ( he will do well in Chicago and around Chicago the Illinois side near St Louis)the rest of the state's rural areas he may not carry but unfortunately he will win the state. I don't generally like to discuss politics but I will say if this man wins the election I will seriously (no kidding)fear for our country's safety!! I am prepared to end up paying the IRS come Income tax season (had to pay every year when Clinton was in office) instead of getting a refund (not that we get much but at least we haven't had to pay the last 8 years)

he is Bi-Racial His mother is/was Caucasian, his father is/was black Apologies I didn't know that Yes the media tends to "down play" that all the time. Actually I think he would do much better if it was mentioned that he is Bi-Racial instead of making it seem as though he is 100% black as that is even more unique than being the potential "first Black American President" "The first Bi-Racial American President" would do more for the American is a "Melting Pot" than either Black or Caucasian his father left his mother when he was younger. He was raised by his Caucasian mother and grandparents, he lived in Hawaii a good portion of his life ( through High School I believe it was)

Thanks Renae, this stuff aint covered on BBC News Nope the news media lets people believe otherwise. Even here in the U.S they down play that he is Bi-Racial, grew up in Hawaii, went to Harvard Law School , he is not Muslim even in the U.S there is still a good percentage that believe he is, etc. It is interesting to see what is left out in the news Media in other countries (even here a lot is omitted or drastically downplayed)

To be truthful I don't tend to keep up with what is happening politically abroad mainly because our own mess is such a jungle to work through itself. The mess that Brown has got us into at the moment with fuel and taxes is hard hitting for many of us poor folks but it has been interesting to read everyones thoughts.

Your quite right Frank. I guess that what is happening closest to us is what frighten's us the most. We have had lots going on over the last year or so which has annoyed so many people but nothing can be done about because law is law according to those that create them that is. Can be so darn annoying my friend! Hope your keeping well Frank and Renae and hope that whateve is happening over their doesn't hit you too hard. Huggs Zo
