The Atas 120 or High Sierra Sidekick and what are your reasons if any for this.
We have been contemplating one or the other for the car for sometime now and it would be interesting to hear other peoples views on these two antenna's. The good points and the bad points and any other suggestions that would work better for multiband use etc.

Forget the Atas it leaks water and fails. Then when you try to strip it to fix the problem a wire on the coil snaps which is nigh on impossible to fix. A common problem with Atas apparently of course Yaesu deny all knowledge of the problem. I know two people who have them same problems. After being fixed, at a horrendous cost for parts, same thing happens again with a fortnight - Steer well clear.

Ceertainly something to think about there, we actually got an Atas 100 as part of a radio deal. The antenna will be sealed on the mount with a rubber 'O' ring, which hopefully will help. Thanks for the info.

Thanks Chris, Perhaps something for other's to bear in mind when thinking about purchasing new antenna's. Of course all ready having one it's too late Thats a thing with this hobby, you need to think long and hard what type of antenna's to purchase or indeed make as not all will be all they pertain to be which is a shame really. Thanks again for your input Chris.

Hi Brian, I have to agree with you about the ATAS120, while working mobile from the Orkney islands using 50w i worked Algeria in north Africa. Which is a pretty amazing contact from a car . Also the inter g groundwaving was amazing as i regularly worked the south coast. 73's de Den.
