Hi All, Which is your favourite aerial and why? is there any aerial you don't like? All opinions welcome. One of my favourite HF aerials has to be the cobwebb, using 10w (yes honestly) i have worked from Nova Scotia down to Africa and from the States to Eastern Europe. This aerial really performs and being physically small can be erected anywhere even indoors. 73's de Den.

Hee hee Me too Renae I like the Tri-band Vertical covering 6mtrs, 2mtrs and 70cms. The other antenna that I was impressed with was a long-wire that Den put up. I have had most of my out of UK contacts on that

We have a Verticle 5BTV for most of the hf bands have made many contcats ( out of country ) on it.
Dave made an inverted L for 160 meters workes much better than the reduced sloper we used to have.

160mtrs is about the only band that I don't have access to at the moment Hopefully will be able to sort something out for that band in the future.

Dave of course made the whole antenna himself

Brilliant that Dave made the antenna himself Renae Den built one the other day for the new Icom 746 does ok on all bands except 160mtrs. We are now turning our thoughts to what we can use design wise to be able to both receive and transmitt on 160mtrs.

It is an inverted L I believe it is apx 40 feet long across the roof . It is raning outside or else I would go snap a photo of it. we had a reduced size sloper but that didnt work well at all.'

Excellent photo's Renae thanks for posting them. Our Cobwebb broke the other day in the strong winds. It is going to have to be taken down and have new wiring put round it because one of the wire's has snapped off totally Good job we have other antenna's to keep us going i.e. longwire's and vertical tri-bander.

That is something we also do Renae, the winds have been quite bad and persistent just lately that checking the antenna's has become a habit for us.
