Purchased recently a 4m, 5w output Pye Telecom converted handheld with helical antenna. In the future I would want to operate with this radio portable on a SOTA summit and would want to use a better antenna than the poor helical antenna which came with this radio.
The army antenna I recently acquired for 50/70 & 28 MHZ FM, would be ideal and fit for purpose. However, in order to use this antenna I require an SMA to BNC that fits the Pye telecom handheld. I have two of these which fit the Jingtongs, but the screw thread is to wide to fit the Pye. Any members any ideas of the correct one to use or where I could easily acquire one from.
All assistance greatly appreciated.

If it's a PFX Ian then it is not a standard thread. Best way is to get hold of a mobile mount. Unfotunately there is not enough room to fit a BNC socket in the antenna position - but there is room on the speaker mike to do this.

Hi Roger
Thanks for coming back to the question asked.
I do have a mobile mount, which of course has the BNC male at the bottom, but, I do not have a speaker/mike to fit the mobile mount.
So maybe the question should have been, where do I acquire a speaker/mike to fit the mobile mount?
Many thanks again Roger.

Hi Roger Well would you believe it. I was surfing the Internet this morning and found a website Garex Electronics and found possibly the answer to my question, a FACILITY CONNECTOR fitted BNC SOCKET for external aerial connection to a PFX at the pricely sum of £ 4.50 Think I will contact them and purchase one soonest, this will connect to my military ground spike antenna for 4m.............. Sorry about size of photo.

Hi Ian I meant the standard speaker mike has room to fit a BNC wheras the PFX body has no room. I use a standard pmr mike on the mobile adaptor - must be dynamic as there is no feed for electret. PFX is having battery problems at moment - need to sort out plug and connections for external supply to mobile mount. The idea from Garex looks good - I have a couple of brand new facility connectors so may homebrew that idea Hope to work you on 4m from a summit or even StoS. May be out tomorrow (1st) somewhere in NP. Roger G4OWG

Hi Roger
Thanks for that. Yes I realised that with regards the speaker/mike. I think I will contact Garex asap and order a facility connector, this just may be the ideal solution to the problem. Will also attempt to acquire a PMR dynamic mike & lead and try it also that way with the mobile mount I have. Would be very nice to work you S to S on 4m........ if I can get this rig up and running with appropriate antenna attached....... we might be able to do it sooner than later.......
