I'd just like to let everyone know due to health problems I might not be about as much this next couple of weeks. For those that don't know I suffer with Lyme disease, which flares up nastily over the spring months, and I had a nasty do with it on Saturday. If you don't know anything about Lyme its a bacteriological disease that is caused by the spirochete Borilia. When a person is first infected within 24/48 hours the whole immune system becomes compromised now bearing in mind that I have had Lyme since I was 12 (I am now 35) you can imagine the kind of problems I get. In me the Lyme has become Neurological. What causes the worst part of the illness is heat. The spirochetes do not like heat when the weather becomes to hot or I have over done things it causes a die off of the things, causing a massive toxic reaction. I have included a couple of links below and hope that people understand why I have to take it easy this next few weeks. I'd rather not talk about the exact happenings of this occasion, at least yet they have left me very fragile Links of interest www.tickpreventionweek.org/www.lymediseaseaction.org.uk/leaflets/lda002.htm

Very nasty, my best wishes to you. Lyme Disease is a nasty and very tricky disease to even diagnose, let alone treat. Being part of the 'birding' and 'wildlife' scene, Lyme Disease and prevention pops up quite a bit. In north america it is far more widespread and a significant issue.
Fortunately it is still a very rare disease in the U.K. but I suspect it will become more well known over the next 10 years...and unfortunately more widespread. I expect far more public notices about prevention and how to avoid contact with the ticks... certainly in rural public areas.
cheers, Andy
