The Idea here is not to create an elitist group but to make sure our small community is easier to access via the search engines. I am initially thinking of registering a domain, for a year or possibly two, but a long term commitment is out of the question for me financially as I already own more than 20 domains that I have to pay for each year.
Another thing we could do is offer email accounts as a perk (I haven't discussed this with 2E0ZLD or 2E0DLZ yet so watch me get slapped ;D ) Or possibly user pages, or blogs let us have your thoughts and comments and we can see how to move forwards if people feel this is something they are interested in.

Your own domain name is a very good idea, and not an expensive one in the scheme of things. hamcommunity is up for grabs, none are even parked, same with talkham. Not everyone likes the term 'ham' but it's part of the language and not seen as derogatory today...and anything with radio in it has long gone unless it's a real clunky one I don't mind helping out with a donation for something like this. cheers, Andy

Sidelining slightly I was thinking if we did it that way there could be static pages to cover stuff like Kit building (like the softrock I am ordering) what I was thinking of doing is taking photos at each stage, and a write up of the complexities and all that sort of thing. We would of course then be able to upload screen shots, audio files of what projects sound like etc?
Thoughts anyone

Sorry been a little late at seeing this Martin but it has our vote. I think a link to this on the general board might be a good idea to encourage as many of our members to vote on the subject. Also Thanks Andy for your thoughts, they are much appreciated and will not go ignored my friend. We are certainly up for anything that is going to encourage new members to join us as we have said before so this is not something that we are ignoring. Thank you very much for suggesting this Martin and we will get on with discussions and action quite soon. 73's, Zo

Just getting together the database for the new domain, I'd like an opinion on the Logo though, and if anyone thinks they can do better then I will happily swap the logo out domain www.internationalham.com and yes you can have a blog there too before people start asking

Excellent. Very glad the domain name wasn't haminternational ... which may have attracted a different type of radio user

lol... if you type "ham international" into google, you'll get my drift Although beloved by many in bygone days, they were actually awful radios...but a cult following still exists for the 'jumbo' cheers, Andy

Oh yes I remember seeing a jumbo a long time ago. My brother in law had one for a short while. Impressive in its day but I would say technology has come a long way and wonder if anyone would still swear by them today? mmmmh just a thought
