Hi
Checked out the forum. The folders seem to cover all topics, very little posters though. You might struggle for UK amateurs to join, thats my experience with overseas forums, those members on these forums tend to use different slants or use unfamiliar terminology which puts off the UK amateur. This is the very same for the overseas visitor to a UK forum. What you tend to find is that the visitor has very little to say on the various messageboards, little or no imput and soon interest dwindles.
Not for me I'm afraid, but good luck to you and the forum..............

Hi
Sorry for the confusion, UK based, okay, same problem though for the reasons I stated, i.e. while most members are from one region, in this case from the US, you will only get a handful of UK members joining and vis versa. I run two forums and on the main forum I tried putting a folder on the Blackpool Amateur Radio Society Forum entitled 'Overseas Visitors'. Now my forum has enjoyed 8746 visitors up till todays date and well exceeds 1500 postings in its limited life so far, but guess what, only 25 postings in the folder mentioned, with only 3 overseas callsigns joining the forum and I cover all topics of amateur radio. The only way your forum will suceed is to turn the ratio around to UK based members where your main postings will come from and enjoy the overseas visitor coming in at regular intervals to spice up the various topics. Although UK amateurswill be put off with the current situation, if you work hard to spread the word it will change. Whatever you do, do not advertise your forum on overseas forums, this is disasterous, just my two peneth worth.........

Hi
Sorry to appear negative, I don't mean to be and if I can assist, I will. First problem as I see it :is the first thing that you don't see on entering the site is a site description. Perhaps add a description which tells all both the ethos of the forum and its main intention. This way you can structure the ethos of the forum to entice your main players, UK amateurs, where your main postings will come from. Secondly, nothing worse on a UK based forum to see that the moderators are from overseas, think of a football forum, lets say Manchester United, would the forum management have Barcelona moderators? No as this would put off United fans etc. Try to avoid terminology such as 'Hamfests' etc, its not english! Use the words Radio Rallies etc, any overseas visitor if not sure will enquire as to the meaning of our terminology used leading to further discussion on your messageboard. Aim the forum at your biggest user base which should be where your local too, the UK, others will follow from there. Cut out folders such as'politics', etc or thatswhere the forum will end up!
However, your forum looks excellent, easy to navigate around, all topics of the hobby covered and could do very well indeed.
Just my two penethworth............
