Lovely shot, a bit more thoughtful and interesting than your average chimp photo ;D Tricky exposure by looks of things, so well done. Here's a couple from today although the light was pretty grim. Firstly a female Brambling... a fairly scarce Winter Finch, that will be winging its way back to Scandinavia and other northern parts within the next week or two. Secondly, a male Siskin (another type of finch). There's been a bit of a Siskin invasion this winter, turning up in many gardens... you get these invasions every few years. Probably a bird from Scandinavia or Eastern Europe, who will also be winging it's way home in a few weeks. We do have a reasonable population of these birds in the U.K, so it could be a British bird but unlikely.

Nice chimp zo! ;D
Love the Birds hawkwind!
Do you have any photos of birds of prey like eagles, Hawks, Falcons etc? How about tiny birds like hummingbirds?

Those are two beautiful images Andy The exposure is bob on and the background is not in focus which to me is good for the sharpness of the outline of the birds. Very Well Done on your excellent photography... 73's, Zo

Hi Andy, I have had a look at your website and you have taken some amazing shots of birds. I can see why it was easier than you expected to sell some of them. The advice you give on the various camera's is also informative and I found it very helpful in thinking about my own shots for the future. I use a humble Nikon D50 which I thought was great until I saw the results of other camera's lol... however I could never afford a better one so going to stick with it. I have a 200 mm lens and the standard 50 mm wide angle lens which I have used very little as I prefer the results of the 200 mm. You are quite knowledgeable when it comes to shooting pic's of birds and hope I can learn from your website which I am going to revisit. I stand in awe 73's, Zo

Thanks Renae, I'd love to see Indigo Bunting, and also Painted Bunting... both very special birds. North America is blessed with some great birds, and I have seen far too few of them I managed to get a photo fo a beautiful Hooded Oriole over on the west coast and a few others, including an Allen's 'hummer'. We do get some North American birds blown over to our shores... We get at least one American Robin a year, which is a bird absolutely nothing like the European one (early settlers were eager for birds to remind them of home, and because your Robin has a red breast, that was the name that stuck for it). cheers, Andy

I wouldn't worry too much about your camera, it's capable of superb results, easily good enough for A3's and full page magazines... what more can you want? Anyway, it's the glass in front of them and the user behind that makes the difference...bit like amateur radio, it's the antenna and op that's important ;D btw: Your spectacular bird is the famous Bali Starling... the caged bird trade has ravaged this species, so it's struggling in the wild. Unfortunately even the conservation groups in Indonesia trying to save the bird are fighting amongst themselves, which hardly helps. cheers, Andy

I am not good with birds so I have no clue what that bird is. North America is blessed with some great birds, and I have seen far too few of them We get at least one American Robin a year, which is a bird absolutely nothing like the European one We saw the Indigo Bunting during migration season , same with the Oriole. Right now there are loads of Robins, sure sign of spring. The US is so big Each area has it's own birds for the most part. I like Cardinals and Blue Jays. though we don't see many Blue Jays anymore not sure why.

It breaks my heart to hear that the conservationists can't even get on and help sort the problem. Thank you for giving me the name of the beautiful little bird, appreciated I have altered the name of the file on my pc so I won't forget what it is in future. Thanks also for comments on camera. My camera was £500 new and it was one of the last ones before the Nikon DX40 took its place. Hubby bought it me for a Mothers Day Present Last Year ;D Cheer's, Zo

It is a shame that you cannot get your pics on the computer Janine. I have thousands on mine but they are mainly holiday pic's from one of mine and Den's favourite places. It's a shame that you don't have a scanner my friend then you would be able to scan them in and on to your pc. I won't tell you what the image is because I know that Den would like to tell you all when the time comes... 73's, Zo

You all know I am not keen on Spiders at all with some of the spider comments and pic's here and there on the forum.. But how about this fella? This would probably be more my cup of tea Not quite as sharp as I would like the image to be but it certainly puts over the point ;D 73's, Zo
